Join Ocean River Sports, Dakini Tidal Wilds, and Savour The Wild for an unforgettable coastal fine dining experience. Paddle out to an island for a chef‑crafted 6‑course dinner and a hands‑on seaweed tasting with a local expert.
Your evening begins with a 1-hour sea-kayak tour led by Ocean River's expert guides. With the guidance of local wild seaweed harvester and Marine Biologist, Amanda Swinimer, discover and learn about the remarkable diversity of local seaweeds growing along Oak Bay.
Then, arrive at Mary Todd Island, where private-chef Colton Armstrong-Ashley with his wilderness kitchen, will welcome you to his table for a 6-course meal featuring Amanda's foraged seaweeds and other locally-sourced ingredients. Taste a spectacular showcase of the region's Ocean Culinary Scene while immersed in the beautiful Oak Bay scenery.

Dakini Tidal Wilds' WebsiteFor more than two decades, Amanda has been sustainably harvesting, by hand, wild, edible seaweeds. She shares her passion for the wild seaweeds of her coastline and their continued health with a diverse audience. The foundational focus of Swinimer’s teaching & presenting is sustainability and respect for the rare ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest. Swinimer has taught at post-secondary institutions, public schools, through private venues and is an experienced and engaging international speaker.

Ocean River has a long and rich history in the sea kayak industry, including the popularization of sea kayaking in the Pacific Northwest. Ocean River Adventures employs Paddle Canada/Sea Kayak Guide Alliance of British Columbia trained instructors and guides in order to give you the safest and highest quality tours possible.
