Our partner Russell Henry and his company River Culture Kayaking is a whitewater kayaking instructional business designed to do exactly that. They offer courses tailored to paddlers ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Both day programs and overnight weekend programs are available and take place throughout the Sea to Sky corridor and special appearances on Vancouver Island.

Advanced Sea Kayak to Whitewater Bridge Course

This course is designed for advanced sea kayakers looking to expand their paddling onto the river!

Already being paddlers means you have your strokes, braces, roll, and other various kayaking skills dialed. This will allow us to be able to leave the majority of that behind and focus mainly on getting you up to speed on whitewater and river skills. Things like river hydrology, scouting rapids, swimming in whitewater, and paddling up to class 3 rapids are all in the plans for this awesome weekend.

Prerequisites to sign up for this course are experience in significant moving water (either on the ocean or in a river), comfortable in moderate sized surf in a kayak, and have a bomber roll.

The course will be held in Gold River on Vancouver Island where we will be spending 3 full days.

White water kayaks and paddles are provided. Please provide your own dry suit, helmet, and safety gear. If you do not have this we can rent/provide you with what you need.

Meet Russ!

Russell Henry is an exceptional kayak guide, instructor, and seasoned expeditionist who has worked and explored all over the world. Although he is educated as a paramedic, his passion for adventure drives him to pursue a career in and around the water. If you have the opportunity to spend time on the water with Russ, seize it! His focus is on fun, exploration, and learning, all while prioritizing safety.
