Johnstone Strait Inside Passage Chart Assistant #308
Johnstone Strait Inside Passage Chart Assistant #308
About Johnstone Strait: Johnstone Strait is one of the main marine transit waterways for British Columbia, and a key part of the Inside Passage through southern British Columbia. But don’t let that fool you – there are alternatives for transiting the area, and so not surprisingly a great many recreational boaters instead transit this region by the backwater channels – Cordero Channel, Wellbore Channel and Chancellor Channel – as one set of options. This helps avoid both the traffic and the strong diurnal winds to which Johnstone Strait is prone. The trade-off, though, is rapids, and a series lie along the inner route that require careful consideration.
About this mapsheet: The Inside Passage Chart Assistant series is composed of 11 mapsheets designed to enable transit of the British Columbia coast from Washington State to Smith Inlet by using a uniformly scaled and continuous set of mapsheets. Since most mariners use electronic navigation, these mapsheets can be used for logistics and planning where a broad visual overview is necessary. All Chart Assistants are printed on heavy synthetic paper to withstand the toughest conditions
