BC Marine Trails

If you are thinking of planning a trip on the BC coast, you should check out the BC Marine Trails website.

BC Marine Trails is a non-profit and charitable organization working together to help secure long term public access to the BC coast.

The BCMT is dedicated to the design and development of a network of marine access points and campsites and day use areas along the entire BC Coast. This is being done in association with various levels of government, First Nations and other stakeholders in order to ensure continued coastal access by kayak, canoe, and other small, non-motorized and motorized boats.

The BCMT website offers a number of resources for those wanting to explore the BC coast, the primary item being their map, which is a database of the campsites, access points and day use sites. You can use the search box on the map to find these sites, or you can simply zoom into a area you are interested in and find the sites that way. The map is continuously being updated as they negotiate and discuss issues with the various stakeholders. It is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to plan a trip anywhere on the BC coast.

If you become a member of BCMT there are some additional perks, including a ruler tool on the map to help measure and define your paddling trip, discounts at various organizations and a regular news letter keeping you appraised of what is happening on the coast.

Ocean River Sports is an official  Business Member of the BC Marine Trails.  To learn more about the BC Marine Trails Network, or if you would like to become a member yourself and see what other perks membership has to offer or learn about volunteer opportunities, check out their website at BC Marine Trails.
